Lord, wash away my iniquity and cleanse me of my sin. These words ring loudly as I see the waters rise from all the rain we are getting. It reminds me of how we should be cleansing ourselves daily of any sin that offends God. All too often we go about our daily lives without thought for Our Heavenly Father. We think about what we need to do, what to buy, what to wear and so forth. What we don't do is what we should be doing, is cleansing ourselves for the Greater Glory of God.
As we were all growing up and playing outside, there was always a time when someone would call us in to dinner. We would come when called; we would all basically go and wash our hands and faces. We wouldn't be allowed at the table otherwise. We would then give thanks for the food we eat. This is what a good parent teaches us, respect and honor in a home filled with respect and love.
I look at the rain in the same way it's God's way of reminding us to cleanse ourselves for the Heavenly Banquet. It is a reminder to reconcile ourselves, to free us from our sins. Too many people ignore what is being given to us, a chance to redeem ourselves. Jesus suffered for us by being beaten and whipped; He took upon himself the ultimate sacrifice. He is not asking us to flog ourselves for penance. He is asking us to cleanse our hearts from the depths of our souls. When we imitate Jesus we are to imitate his Love. God Bless
