Our Faith

Taken from the Morning Prayer of the Liturgy of Hours:

The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart. For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Faith in the heart leads to justification, confession of the lips to salvation. Romans 10:8b-10

There's no two ways about it, Jesus is very near to us. It's up to us to believe and to make him known. But do we believe from our hearts, and not just giving lip service. The apostles and those who loved Jesus, such as his Mother, and many others who followed him, have given testimonies of faith. Not just faith in what Jesus has done, but faith in his rising from the dead. Their faith is in God. This faith is what gave them the strength to proclaim and confess from their lips the truth of God's word made flesh.

How often have we felt extreme joy in our faith but kept it to ourselves. Yet we hear something worth repeating and off we go. Are we that ashamed of our faith then. In order for us to live we need to live in the Spirit of God, in the belief that his Son died and rose, to confess not just from the lips this truth, but from our heart to. I'm sure many know of faith in those they love. Faith in a job, faith in parents, faith in spouses, friends, in each other. Put that faith in God too, it's amazing what faith in God does for a person.
