Truth

My children, I am writing this to you
so that you may not commit sin.
But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous one.
He is expiation for our sins,
and not for our sins only but for those of the whole world.
The way we may be sure that we know him is to keep
his commandments.
Those who say, (I know him, ( but do not keep his commandments
are liars, and the truth is not in them.
But whoever keeps his word,
the love of God is truly perfected in him.

1 John 2:1-5a

Why is it brought to light the sins of those who serve the Lord? For what purpose and by whose hand has it come to light. Has the Holy Spirit brought the evilness to light to cleanse and make known what has been broken in order to mend it. The Commandments are for all who live. There are many who serve the Church as Lay people, who commit acts against God's commandments too. Jesus came to save us from ourselves. After all aren't we the one's who lie to ourselves the most, with the thought that no one will know the truth. None of us are perfect, we lie so much it's second nature. Who are we trying to protect ourselves from? Our neighbor, for fear that they will judge us for our sins. I went through this myself, fear of being judged by others because of my sins, when the one I need to worry about is God's wrath and no one elses. It's so easy to lie to ourselves to cover our own misdeeds. If it happened to me it happens to many out there. So I always point the finger in my direction first in order to yank out the plank within my own eye. Never to judge another. God Bless

Good post Marie Cecile! We must remember that Jesus never forbade all judging. Rather, he wanted us to judge from pure motives. This is why He said, "First take the plank from thine own eye, then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Vatican II, most specifically Gaudium et Spes, No. 28, reminds us that we are never morally free to judge another individual's interior dispositions.

Of course, we are free to judge that what others SAY or DO may fail to live up to Gospel demands. In so doing, we must refrain from any judgment of that individual's soul.

Such judging is for God alone.

Your post is excellent because it reminds readers of a truth which is most neglected today. And that truth is this: Every man is a liar to some extent. We are expert in hiding our own faults and failing to own up to them.

It is only when we approach Jesus often in the Sacrament of Penance after performing an examination of conscience, and praying for the humility to put off the old man, that the light and peace of Christ will transform us to such an extent that there will be no shadows about us.

God love you Sister!
