Jesus is the Way

Where I am going you know the way. Thomas said to him, "Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:4-6

This one statement that Jesus made has become for us a huge guide. He let us know in this Gospel how to get to God. It is through him and only him.

How can we know too that he is the way? Because he is the one who has been sent to give us the way. All through the Old Testament, we have been given so much about God it is confusing. Is he an evil God as someone kindly pointed out to me. Because of letting battles being won in his name, or defeating foes. They called upon God for vengeance. Jesus came to fulfill and to show us the right way to God. It is through him and through love. He is right, he is the way, the truth and the life.

Love is the way, not the thinking that if God loves us he would destroy the enemy. That is not love. It relieves the hurts, it does not cure it. Sometimes we seek God to destroy, not realizing that the one we want destroyed probably has more love in them, than we do, after all aren't we the one's looking to destroy. Or seeking a destructive sign because of vengeance, this is not love either. We have thought so many vile things that seek answers from God, that are not his way.

It is in and through Jesus that we understand God's way, the truth that God is Love.
