God's Espousal

I will espouse you to me forever: I will espouse you in right and in justice, in love and in mercy; I will espouse you in fidelity, and you shall know the LORD. Hosea 2:21-22

The reference to "out of the land of Egypt" is the only thing that clues us in on who the Lord is speaking about. When we read this we could actually take it personal. He espouses us to himself, in right and in justice, in love and in mercy, and in fidelity, we shall know the Lord.

Has he spoken to your heart to do what is right for those around you, in justice. Has he spoken to you from another out of love, so we will know his mercy. Has he sought fidelity from you, to be loyal to Him.

God does espouse us to Him so we will know Him. Today it is spoken about Israel and them calling him baal, a deity not of God. But a god in the lower sense.

And God seeks to espouse her to Him for all time, just as in the days of old. A country that became lost, and Hosea reveals the heart of the Lord for this land. When God goes to such lengths for a land, that is filled with people, imagine the lengths he would go to for the world and all those who inhabit it.
