ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
(St. Louis De Montfort's Consecration)
I, (Name), a faithless sinner -
renew and ratify today in thy hands,
O Immaculate Mother,
the vows of my Baptism;
I renounce forever Satan,
his pomps and works;
and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ,
the Incarnate Wisdom,
to carry my cross after Him
all the days of my life,
and to be more faihful to Him
than I have ever been before.
In the presence of all the heavenly court
I choose thee this day,
for my Mother and Mistress.
I deliver and consecrate to thee,
as thy slave, my body and soul,
my goods, both interior and exterior,
and even the value of all my good actions,
past, present and future;
leaving to thee the entire
and full right of disposing of me,
and all that belongs to me, without exception,
according to thy good pleasure,
for the greater glory of God,
in time and in eternity.

Montfort, my mentor. Montfort, my friend. How filled with supernatural wisdom you were.
Pope John Paul II, a giant of a theologian and philosopher, once said that he had to read True Devotion to Mary several times before he could even BEGIN to understand the profound passages contained therein.
St. Montfort, pray for us. Jesus living in Mary! Ad Jesus per Mariam!
I never heard of this devotion until I saw it posted on your Blog. I found this prayer and now I think I need to read the booklet about what you are speaking of.
If I could have only the books authored by three great spiritual writers, the books would be by St. Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort, Dietrich von Hildebrand (whose wife is a dear friend of mine and signed my copy of Transformation in Christ) and Gabriel Marcel.
These three have influenced my life beyond measure. Of course, there are so many others I cherish. But Montfort is the greatest of the Marian Saints whose wisdom is just incredible, Hildebrand was a prophet who was little understood and who warned society of the dangers of Communism, National Socialism and later the negative fruits which would emerge after the Second Vatican Concil - each time his warnings were ignored and this is a pity as he is one of the most profound writers in the history of the Catholic Church whom Pope Pius XII referred to as the "20th-century Doctor of the Church," and as or Gabriel Marcel, this philosopher of communion probably won't be fully appreciated for another 100 years or more.
In time I think I will be able to read far more than I do now. Where one of the greats will have touched my life, but for now I am happy that it is God who has done the touching.
Just as God has touched your life deeply through the works of others, to bring you ever closer to him. But I think you already were touched deeply by God long before you read these works that shaped your faith and life.
I do know from the lessons we are learning about the life of St. Dominic, but also Bishop Fulton J.Sheen as well as St. Louis de Montfort, these last two were priests of the Dominican Laity formerly known as the Dominican Third Order. I have immersed myself in Dominics life but not these as yet, or of St. Catherines.
We are just into the third lesson and there is so very much to remember from the previous two as well as this one. I feel like a sponge at times and at others I feel as if I can hold no more. I have so much already upon my mind and yet I forgot about even reading about these two in my lesson. (sigh) I need more brain space. (lol)
