Saturday of the First Week of Advent

Advent Prayer

God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy, so that we may share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord will give you the bread you need and the water for which you thirst.
Isaiah 30:20

Reflection:
No longer will your Teacher hide himself, but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher, While from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears: "This is the way; walk in it," when you would turn to the right or to the left, Isaiah 30:20-21 is the continuation of the sentence above. And we have been given the bread and the water that quenches our thirst through our Lord.

The Eucharist feeds us, and Jesus quenches our thirst. There is no other source on this earth that can take care of our needs as this. He feeds our body with what gives us strength, He feeds our souls that fill us with peace, and He fills us with love.
