Ask Questions

At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Matthw 11:25-27

Prayer

Dear Father how selfish we are at times. We seem to want to get to know your Son only when trouble arises. We pray to him then, often missing out on the true pleasure of really knowing him and you before trouble comes knocking on our doors. Yet if we truly want to know you we would come to talk to you. Just like in life when people want to know about us, they ask questions to get to know us. If people want to know someone they do what they need to to find out about the person, don't they? Well the same can be said about Jesus and God. To get to know them we must learn about them, ask them questions. We basically know what they are all about, but that still doesn't bring us into their realm. Take a few moments out of the day and sit and talk to Jesus and God, get to know them, ask them questions about them. How will they reveal themselves to us if we don't try to come to know them. Same with us, will we reveal parts of ourselves if no one is interested. May we reflect on your love and all you do for us. May we come ever closer to you so we may know you and come to praise you for the goodness that you are. Amen
