Setting the World Ablaze

I am come to cast fire on the earth; and what will I, but that it be kindled? And I have a baptism wherewith I am to be baptized: and how am I straitened until it be accomplished?

Think ye, that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but separation. For there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided: three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against his father, the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother, the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Luke 12:49-53 (Douay-Rheims)

Prayer

Dear Father these words of Jesus are a reality, for he has set the world ablaze. He has given us your Word in truth. To love you first and our neighbor second. That he will divide a household against each other for the sake of your kingdom. To teach us to love you first where we will love those around us as we love you. Sometimes dear Father we forget how important it is to love you first. But what we end up doing is forgetting you altogether. But when a house is divided, don't we pray for help in uniting it? Sometimes we see how contradictory Jesus' teaching is, but we find truth in it as often the parables he spoke to give us meaning to what he says. He will divide families and for what purpose is this but to help us to love you. And when we do that we love unconditionally. This is how the world will be set ablaze, when we come to truly love you first. May we help Jesus set the world ablaze by loving God first in our lives, so we will come to love our neighbor and our families as ourselves. Where peace and harmony will rain down on us. Amen
