God's Forgiveness of Nineveh

Jonah took flight, to avoid doing God's will, yet God kept after him. Was Jonah's pride that great, that he feared how he would look to others for going around Nineveh proclaiming in forty days it would be destroyed. This gave the town folk time to repent. God gave them a chance to do just that too, and miracle of miracles the town of Nineveh repented. Jonah did a remarkable job of being the bearer of bad news. If someone told me I had forty days to change my life around or be destroyed, what would I do, I would change my ways. BUT, if we lived in the way God asks of us we would not have to be approached to change. What a forgiving God we have, It's too bad that we Christians aren't forgiving of each other also. Sometimes we come across people from our past,we know have sinned, so we avoid them, even when we know that God has changed their lives, are we in those moments acting as loving as God was, in his forgiveness of Nineveh. This is something I understand about God's loving nature is his great capacity to forgive. Because of his forgiveness in my life it makes forgiving others so much easier. His example of Nineveh's forgiveness shows his loving nature. How come we are not following God's example today with one another?
