Over the Edge

Are we living on the edge of the abyss, that either way we go we might just fall into the pit by a simple misstep, or are we diligently letting God's Spirit guide us? In today's Gospel Jesus' family wanted to pull him away from the crowd, thinking that all the expulsion of demons have made Jesus go over the edge himself. Jesus' love for us was so great that he never stopped bringing healing. He didn't go over the edge, he went beyond himself, to bring us more of himself. He was showing us that we also need to make time to eat and refresh ourselves. To give our burdens to our Father, who refreshes our souls. Without this we would be tottering on the edge of the abyss, feeling as if we have gone crazy because we overburdened our souls. Jesus' lesson, is to give over our troubles to the Father where we willl be renewed, to nourish our souls with the bread of life. He showed us by his example that he goes beyond himself to bring us back to him.
