What Lengths Would We Go

it was also for us, to whom it will be credited, who believe in the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was handed over for our transgressions and was raised for our justification. Romans 4:24-25

Our salvation was in the hands of Jesus in order for us to know the truth. The truth that he was sent by God, the truth that by God he was raised from the dead. Only a loving God would go to such lengths to bring us back to him, for us to realize that he loves us.

When we think about it, how we go to great lengths ourselves to show someone we love them. We purchase flowers to give an offering of love. We buy gifts to give, to celebrate a special occasion, or just to show our love. Some go to even greater lengths to show someone their love by doing unusual things. We often read of these, like a billboard, or a note written in the sky, or some unique way to capture our loves attention. So if we go to these great lengths, it shouldn't be hard to understand the love God has for us and the lengths he went to show us through his Son.

Marie Cecile,

You have gone to great lengths to show Jesus and His Mother how much you love them. Your hard work for Jesus and Mary is very much appreciated. And I absolutely love your image of Our Lady of La Salette!

Marie, you are not far from the Kingdom of God.

Please pray for me as I enter Religious Life in August. I heard that I was accepted on May 1st - the Feast of St. Joseph. May I always and everywhere live in imitation of the glorious foster-father of Jesus and Patron of the Universal Church.

I remain confident that even an unworthy sinner like myself - a garbage can - can look to good St. Joseph.

Thank you and God love you,
Paul

Paul,

Thank you for your kind sentiment. I love this picture of Our Lady also, I hope the Missionaries of La Salette do not mind that I borrowed it from their Web Site.

That is wonderful that you have been accepted on the Feast of Saint Joseph. I pray you will succeed on the path you have been called to as you venture forth in God's Holy Order.

You have the light of God within allow it to shine. God made all of us beautiful, even when we do not think it of ourselves. God does not make trash. A garbage can is filled with trash, you are far from that. You do not fill yourself up with useless junk. So please do not think of yourself that way. And thank you for writing to me. My prayers as always are with you in front of the Most Holy Sacrament of our Lord.

God Love You,

Marie Cecile

Marie Cecile,

I do not say that I am garbage. God doesn't make garbage. Rather, I refer to myself as a garbage can because often my soul becomes a receptacle for sin (even if it's "only" venial sin). This prevents me from becoming too proud.

Should the Divine Gardener decide to come along, cleanse my soul - which has become a garbage can - fill it with good top soil and plant beautiful flowers, I cannot take any credit.....I am still just a garbage can.

Dear Paul,

That is quite a unique way of looking at ourselves. If I offended you I'm sorry. I did not understand your statement, and I'm glad that you explained it. The last thing I ever want to do is offend a friend.

I'm sure the Divine Gardener is not far from you, giving you what you seek.
