Jesus said, "What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches." Luke 13:18-19
Reflection:
I remember being at a concert and thinking is this Priest looking at me as he was saying "All it takes is a seed." I had to remember there was another Priest a few pews behind me. But it can be eerie at times when we seem to think it is aimed at us. Well anyway, that came to mind when I read this mornings Gospel. All it takes is a small seed and poof see how the kingdom of God grows.
The seed itself is planted when we hear the word of God and we nourish it and let it grow. It becomes a glorious tree with outreaching branches as we too spread the message of God's word. The more we act and live the Gospel message the bigger and more beautiful the tree becomes. The same when we use leaven for bread, it becomes huge in size. This is the kingdom of God, it is immense beyond our understanding. The kingdom of God is a constantly growing kingdom, it does not detract at all, but grows and grows.
