Friday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Let us be on our guard while the promise of entering into his rest remains, that none of you seem to have failed. For in fact we have received the Good News just as our ancestors did. But the word that they heard did not profit them, for they were not united in faith with those who listened. For we who believed enter into that rest.
Hebrews 4:1-3

Reflection:
And what a rest it is too. It's peaceful! He gave us a day to rest in Him and many of us have failed even this in our day.

They heard the Good News and the one's who came before them heard the Good News, we hear the Good News, but like those who came before us we heard it but it did not profit for us either.

There is something to be said about hearing the Good News, it brings us life in a way that is fulfilling especially when we really hear it and follow the word. When we go to Mass we do find rest and we keep that day Sacred. We come to understand how much we truly profit from listening.

I have kept the Lord's day Holy all my life, it is the one day I rest in Him. It's not hard to do either. All you have to do is recognize that the one day that we get up in the morning belongs to Him, not us.
