Thursday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him. And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him and shout, “You are the Son of God.” He warned them sternly not to make him known.
Mark 3:10-12

Reflection:
Many sought out Jesus to be healed by him. They came from all over. And Jesus being the love that he is, touched many lives.

The unclean spirits knew who Jesus truly was. They fell down before him, and proclaimed that he is the Son of God. And Jesus would warn them to not make him known, why? Because people have a tendency to shy away from such heavenly exaltation. Jesus is after all human, and these unclean spirit's are revealing Jesus' divinity.

Do we fear God's presence in others as the unclean spirits feared Jesus. When we live in the presence of God we know the goodness that comes from within. Just as the unclean spirits of those who are filled with evil, back away from those who are holy.

Sometimes in our lives we may have come across a person who seemed to reek of evil, we have perhaps felt repulsed by them. Our prayers are needed then more than anything to help restore them to life.
