Thursday the Fifth Week of Easter

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that
my joy might be in you and
your joy might be complete.”
John 15:9-11

Prayer

Dear Father love is a special gift of the heart, one that your Son knew very well. You gave him a love to pass on to everyone. Jesus has given us two special commandments, to love you above all else and to love our neighbor as ourselves just as you love us. He asks us to keep his commandments to remain in his love, yet in keeping these special ones we are able to keep the ones that you gave. I pray dear Father to always love you first in all ways, and to love those who don't. What Jesus said today in this Gospel is so true, that his joy might be in us so that our joy may be complete. Without this love in our lives we truly have no joy, just an emptiness. May our hearts crave the love that Jesus speaks of and find it. Amen
