Good vs Bad Fruit

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but underneath are ravenous wolves.
By their fruits you will know them.
Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Just so, every good tree bears good fruit,
and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit,
nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down
and thrown into the fire.
So by their fruits you will know them.”
Matthew 7:15-20

Prayer

Dear Father what an awesome way of putting it, we will be known by our fruit. Many times we are ashamed to even mention God in our daily lives. And yet we would want to be known by our fruit. We can do many things in our life, but do we do it for God first before everything else. Sometimes we are wolves in sheep's clothing, taking care of others all the while with a motive behind it. Do we do it for our own gain and not for God. Do we do it to harm another because of our own jealousy. Our fruits may look good but often are rotten inside. Ever get one of those fruits from the stand and once cut open it is truly rotten, when on the outside it looks so edible. Sometimes we are like that and we call ourselves Christians all the while planning a war or scheming how to make millions so more people are poor. Dear Father may we know truly those who are from you. May our lives be in imitation of your Son so we may be known by our fruits too. Let us come ever closer to you and share our life with others so they too may grow abundantly. Amen
