Narrow Gate

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.

“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
This is the Law and the Prophets.

“Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction,
and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life.
And those who find it are few.”

Matthew 7:6, 12-14

Prayer

Dear Father we are always confronted with many obstacles in our lives with the temptations of the world. It is often hard to follow the path that is difficult to walk. Many times we end up choosing a temptation that leads us astray and off the narrow and difficult path. It's not easy following the path to God, it is often filled with obstacles that tempt us away from the path of life. But with perseverance we overcome those obstacles with ease, often it is the choice we make that determines the walk we walk. When we find the gate that leads us to life, it's like walking on a very narrow ledge with hardly any room to move on if there is a boulder in the way. This is how narrow and precarious the walk we must walk when we follow the Lord. It doesn't take much for us to fall, that is why so very many choose the path that is very wide and easy to follow. It takes determination, discipline, and trust to go the route that leads to God. Dear Father may our chosen path be the one that leads to you, the gate that is narrow and hard to walk. May we be guided by your love as we enter the gate and follow you with all the trust in our hearts that we will be lead and kept safe on our journey. Amen
