Kingdom of God

And being asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come? he answered them, and said: The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say: Behold here, or behold there. For lo, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said to his disciples: The days will come, when you shall desire to see one day of the Son of man; and you shall not see it.
And they will say to you: See here, and see there. Go ye not after, nor follow them: For as the lightening that lighteneth from under heaven, shineth unto the parts that are under heaven, so shall the Son of man be in his day. But first he must suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation.

Luke 17:20-25 (Douay-Rheims Bible)

Prayer

Dear Father it's hard not to chase after dreams of a greater kingdom. It's something we all want, the knowledge of knowing when your Kingdom will come. Yet you dwell within each one of us. Some have swept out the dirt to let your kingdom shine through them while others bury their treasure for fear of it being stolen away from them. What you give cannot be stolen only taken away and by you. And to that effect your Son suffered a harsh fate to free us from our habit of burying the treasure of the kingdom of God. May we go about digging out that glorious treasure and let the kingdom that shines ever new burn brightly within our hearts. Amen
