Massacre of the Infants

When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet:

"A voice was heard in Ramah,
sobbing and loud lamentation;
Rachel weeping for her children,
and she would not be consoled,
since they were no more."
(NAB) Matthew 2:16-18

Do we respond like Herod when we are deceived? Do we retaliate because someone pulled a fast one on us? Who do we imitate when our feathers are ruffled, Herod or Jesus? Herod wanted to be King of all that is and was. He wanted to rid the world of the goodness that is God. We are guilty of the same actions as Herod by destroying the life within us. We go around killing the innocents of children today, by aborting what God has given to us. If that isn't enough we abuse our children, mentally, physically, and verbally. Kinda sounds like Herod after all. We are turning our children into the world as we see it, no faith, no respect, an eye for an eye mentality. Lets rid the world of what we don't want to be reminded of, which is God's goodness.
There are many out there who have values and teach their children those values, the value of love, respect, honesty, faith. So who do we imitate when we bump someone off because we dislike them, everyone has a right to live. God Bless
