The Prayer

And it came to pass as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples." And he said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come! Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

And he said to them, "Which of you shall have a friend and shall go to him in the middle of the night and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has just come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and he from within should answer and say, 'Do not disturb me; the door is now shut, and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give to thee'? I say to you, although he will not get up and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him all he needs. And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. But if one of you asks his father for a loaf, will he hand him a stone? or for a fish, will he for a fish hand him a serpent?

Prayer

Dear Father a beautiful prayer is set for us by Jesus. He teaches us how to honor and praise your name. But his example of persistence in prayer teaches us to never give up when we pray for forgiveness, for our daily bread. Ask, seek, and knock are Jesus' ways of telling us how. Dear Father I ask for world healing, that love for you will conquer the hearts of many. Dear Father I seek peace among the people of the world, that they will come to love their neighbor. Dear Father I knock on the door of your heart for mercy and love. May we come to ask you for forgiveness, to seek love, and to knock so our hearts will be opened to your will. Amen

I don't get it. Which prayer are you writing about?

The Our Father which is the Lords Prayer, that we know of today, it goes like this:

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

That's the great prayer.
