Treasure

And one of the multitude said to him: Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me. But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me judge, or divider, over you? And he said to them: Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life doth not consist in the abundance of things which he possesseth. And he spoke a similitude to them, saying: The land of a certain rich man brought forth plenty of fruits. And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and will build greater; and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me, and my goods. And I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years take thy rest; eat, drink, make good cheer. But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.
Luke 12:13-21 (Douay-Rheims)

Prayer

Dear Father it seems the more we have the more we store away. The same can be said also of money, the more we make the more we either stash away or the more we spend to acquire more. And then we have this saying that when you die you can't take it with you. But a lot of times we forget about you dear Father during our life and the true treasure that we reap when it is for your kingdom. One thing I am thankful for it's being taught at a young age love of you. And being part of a family that lives in faith, where our treasure is you. If I didn't find out throughout my life that possessions come and go, and are easily replaced, same with jobs and everything else, but you are faithful and true. You never leave our side and for me that is worth more than all the goods of the earth. The love in my heart I share with those I come in contact with, I don't keep it to myself because you have been generous to me. Dear Father may the treasure I share build up the heavenly kingdom for your greater glory. Amen
